Harrogate Christmas & Gift Show: Hall A, Stand A38
Christmas home décor and textiles is a hugely popular, expanding category – and Peggy Wilkins Textile Fashions top the list of expert companies. The design team spoke to CinJ…
You’re a family run business, established back in 1973 – please could you provide a bit of background as to your business story and how things have evolved over the past 52 years?
The company was founded in 1973 by Peggy Wilkins and began as a small family-run business, a spirit that still guides us today. We started with table linens focused on quality and detail, and over time expanded into cushions, home accessories, and ceramics. Although we’re well known for our Christmas collections, our spring and summer ranges have grown significantly too. Today, we supply garden centres and home retailers across the UK and beyond with trusted, design-led home and tableware.
Christmas home decor has been such a growing trend in the past few years – what do you think has inspired this?
Christmas home decor has grown because people are increasingly wanting to make their homes feel special and personal during the festive season. Social media inspires new ideas, but there’s also a real appreciation for quality and keepsakes, items they can enjoy year after year instead of disposable products. Decorating and in particular ‘Tablescaping’ has become part of the celebration, creating a warm, inviting space that feels truly magical.
Which ranges will you be showcasing at Harrogate?
We’ll be presenting a broad selection of Christmas textiles, including Festive Farmyard, Jolly Gingerbread, Woodland Wonder, Season’s Song (Robin-inspired), and the pet-themed Deck the Paws. Our popular novelty items and metallics will also be on display. This year, we’re highlighting trending colours with the Midnight Luxe range, featuring deep navy velvets with gold accents, alongside one of our favourites, Evergreen Jewel, in rich burgundy and green for a timeless festive feel. In ceramics, we’re introducing two new collections: one with a modern berry-and-stripe design, and another showcasing a delicate Christmas-inspired watercolour pattern.
Are you also exhibiting at Spring Fair?
Yes we’ll be exhibiting at Spring Fair as well. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our full range beyond the Christmas collections, including our spring and summer textiles, home accessories, and ceramics. It also allows us to connect with retailers early in the year and share new trends and designs for the upcoming season.
What tend to be your best-sellers year on year?
Our tapestry cushions are always a best-seller as customers love the sense of nostalgia they bring. Our metallic ranges also perform strongly, along with collections featuring traditional Christmas motifs. Together, these pieces combine craftsmanship, classic festive charm, and quality that customers return to year after year.
What new designs are you most excited about?
This year we’ve been developing some exciting new embroidery techniques, including a beautiful chain stitch that features on several of our designs. We’re also thrilled to be combining print and embroidery on rich velvet cushions, creating truly unique pieces that bring texture, depth, and a fresh twist to our collections.
